Actually my first computer was a Spectrum 32, and the first program I wrote to amuse the kids, was an animated space rocket in Sinclair-basic.
I then upgraded to a Sinclair QL which had a Pascal-like basic built in called "QDOS" and even had an icon controlled multi-windowing environment, long before Bill Gates hacked out Windows I (a complete pigs breakfast that tended to crash about every three minutes).
I then dabbled with Apple IIs, Commodores and just about everything that was available, learned Turbo-Pascal and then DBII, C and C+. Became a partner in a computer shop, trying to sell a QL based computer called the "Thor" designed privately by Clive's Team after they were sacked. It was very powerful, fully multitasking and made Bill Gates' stuff look like something suitable for a kindergarten, but despite being both an Apple and Windows killer, it never caught on. It was about then that Alan Sugar spoilt the market with his cheapo word-processors! - pity, I could have been a millionaire by the end of last century if the Thor had succeeded.
Meanwhile in Russia, the Thor was the official substitute for the forbidden US computers. Then the Berlin Wall got pushed over and Glasnost came along and allowed the US computer industry to sell to ex-communist block countries - final end of Thor....
Now I just build my own state of-the-art Windows PCs and use them for genealogy, surfing, writing and email.... Massiff Man! hee hee!

Should have called it 'Odin'.
Then you wouldn't have ended up a Thor loser.
